Saxo belt tensioner failure
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a problem with the belt tensioner on a 2002 Citroen Saxo, where the belt handover isn't functioning properly. The issue is suspected to be a defective belt bringer. A similar problem was experienced by another individual, who suggested that the tensioner pulley might be damaged or misaligned, affecting engine performance. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic.

When you say 'similar behavior,' do you mean the belt handover completely failed? And if so, was it also the belt bringer? Did you do any other tests to find out what was wrong?

Yes, 'similar behavior' means the belt handover stopped working. I didn't do a lot of testing myself, but the shop said it was the belt bringer. It cost me 455€, so I'd just take it to a good mechanic.

Thanks, that helps. I'll get it checked out at a shop. I appreciate you sharing your experience and the price.

I've seen something similar on my Saxo. Does it make a loud belt squeal, especially when it's cold? The serpentine belt circuit might be misaligned. It sounds like the belt tensioner isn't working right, which can hurt engine performance. Have you checked the tensioner pulley for damage or play?
