Saxo Brake Light Failure

Brake lights on my 2001 Citroen Saxo (gasoline engine) aren't working. I've done 161802 km. No brake lights when I press the pedal. Error message on the display and a code stored. Suspect the brake light switch. Thoughts?

Had something similar with my Saxo. Error message and brake light failure points to the brake light switch. Have you checked the switch near the brake pedal? Maybe it's loose or faulty.

Where exactly is the switch located near the brake pedal, and how can I check if it's working? Any tips?

It's right above the brake pedal arm. Small, plastic thing with a plunger that the pedal releases. Given the symptoms, and my experience, a workshop visit is best. They've got the tools to find the real problem. Hard to say more without seeing it myself.

Took it to a workshop, as suggested. The technician said the brake light switch was faulty, probably from user error. They replaced it for free, and the error messages are gone. Thanks!
