Saxo crankshaft sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Citroen Saxo is experiencing issues with reduced power, poor throttle response, increased fuel consumption, and an illuminated check engine light. The error code indicates a problem with the crankshaft to camshaft reference value, suggesting a potential issue with the crankshaft sensor. A faulty crankshaft sensor can disrupt engine synchronization, leading to these symptoms. The recommended solution is to have the sensor checked and replaced by a professional, which resolved the issue in this case.

I haven't checked the timing chain directly, but I understand it's related to engine synchronization. Could a faulty crank sensor cause such a significant drop in performance and fuel efficiency? Is there a way to test the sensor?

Yeah, a bad crank sensor messes with the whole timing. It can definitely cause those symptoms. Honestly, testing it is a pain without the right tools. I ended up just taking mine to a shop when it happened. They sorted it quick enough.

Appreciate the advice. Seems best to get it checked at a workshop. I had it checked and it was indeed the crankshaft sensor. The repair cost 340€.

Hey, I've got a Saxo too. Sounds like what happened to me a while back. Engine light was on, felt like it was misfiring. Did you check the timing chain? Could be related to engine synchronization if the crank sensor is going bad.
