Saxo Diesel Jerking Acceleration

My 2001 Citroen Saxo diesel (158k km) is jerking when I accelerate, and the check engine light is on. OBD reader shows an error. It's lost power and sometimes stalls at idle, runs rough, and smells of exhaust. Could it be a vacuum leak or the intake manifold?

Saxo diesel, eh? Sounds familiar! I had similar issues: jerking, power loss, the whole shebang. Did you check the manifold pressure? Could be a gasket leak. Is it worse when the engine is cold?

Manifold pressure? I haven't checked that specifically, but I did a quick visual inspection and didn't see anything obvious. A gasket leak makes sense, given the exhaust smell. And yes, it's definitely worse when the engine is cold. How did you figure out it was the manifold?

If it's worse when cold, I'd bet on a manifold leak. I actually had scorching on mine – common issue, apparently. I spent ages chasing phantom misfires. Honestly, save yourself the hassle and get it to a workshop.

Took it to the workshop and you were right – intake manifold was leaking due to scorching. Repair cost 1180€, but at least she's running smoothly again.
