Saxo High Fuel Consumption Hard Start

My 2002 Citroen Saxo diesel is playing up. Fuel consumption is higher than usual, and it's a nightmare to start in the mornings. Mileage is just shy of 100k km. I reckon it's the throttle valve or maybe the accelerator pedal module. Any thoughts before I start repairs?

I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra a few years back. Symptoms sound very familiar. Fuel consumption went through the roof and starting was a pain. Have you checked the throttle position sensor? That was the culprit in my case.

Throttle position sensor, eh? Whereabouts is that located on the Saxo? And how did you figure out it was that specifically on your Astra? Any tips for testing it before I resign myself to a costly repair?

On my Astra, it was attached to the throttle body itself. I wasn't able to diagnose it myself with any certainty. I took it to a workshop, they ran a diagnostic check, and the error code pointed directly to the sensor. Saved me a lot of guesswork.

Cheers for the advice! I took it to the shop. Turns out it was indeed throttle related, down to a defective accelerator pedal module like I suspected. Cost me 205€ all in to get sorted. Appreciate the help!
