Saxo immobilizer error

Hi. I'm having an issue with my 2000 Citroen Saxo, gasoline engine. It has 94013 km on the clock. The engine won't start. Sometimes it starts briefly and then dies. I've checked the error memory and there's an immobilizer error stored. Could incorrect key programming be the cause?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Saxo a while back. Was a real pain. Does the immobilizer light flash on the dash when you try to start it? Have you tried using your spare key to see if that makes a difference?

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, the immobilizer light does flash. I haven't tried the spare key yet. I'll give that a shot. If the spare key doesn't work, what did you end up doing to fix it?

If the spare key doesn't work either, it's highly likely a programming issue as you suspected. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They had the equipment to reprogram the key and reset the immobilizer. Cost me 45€, which wasn't too bad, all things considered.

The spare key didn't work, so I took it to a workshop as you suggested. They confirmed it was a key programming issue. 45€ later, it's all sorted. Thanks for the help!
