Saxo oil temperature sensor issue

My 2000 gasoline Citroen Saxo is giving me grief. It has 239087 km on the clock. The engine oil temperature warning light keeps popping up, and the diagnostic tool says it's the oil temperature sensor. Sometimes the oil pressure warning lamp lights up too! I've wiggled the wires and checked the plug, but no improvement. Could this be a faulty sensor?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Saxo, think it was the temp sensor. Check the wiring carefully.

Really? The exact same symptoms? Do you recall anything specific about the wiring? I'm getting rather desperate!

Yep, same lights. I messed with it for a bit, but honestly, just took it to a workshop in the end. Saved me a lot of hassle.

I took your advice and went to a local mechanic; and it turns out you were spot on! They diagnosed it as a defective cable/plug connection on the oil temperature sensor. The bill came to 95€, which is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Thank you so much for your help!
