Saxo radio reception issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Citroen Saxo diesel is experiencing poor radio reception, with error messages and audio cutouts, possibly due to a faulty antenna. The issue might stem from a defective antenna connection, corrosion, or a problem with the antenna amplifier or ground. It is suggested to inspect the antenna base and cable connections, and if unresolved, seek professional diagnosis. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective antenna, which was replaced at a garage.

I had a look at the antenna itself, didn't see anything obvious like a broken wire. But I haven't pulled the radio out yet to check the cable. Was that a pain to do on your Astra?

Removing the radio wasn't too bad, a couple of screws and it slid right out. But even if the cable looks okay, the problem might be with the antenna amplifier or even the antenna ground. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Could save you a lot of time and frustration.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a garage. Turns out you were spot on, the antenna was defective. Cost me 255€ all in to replace. At least it's sorted now!

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra: intermittent audio, error codes. Turned out to be a dodgy antenna connection. Have you checked the antenna base for corrosion or damage? Is the antenna cable properly seated in the back of the radio unit?
