Saxo temperature issues

My 2000 Citroen Saxo, gasoline engine, is acting up. The instrument cluster shows wrong temperatures, the check engine light is on, and it takes ages to warm up. It's done 82783 km. I'm thinking it might be the cooling grille. Anyone seen this before?

I had similar issues with my Saxo. Have you made sure nothing's blocking the radiator grille? Leaves or even a plastic bag can really mess with the airflow.

Thanks, I checked the radiator grille and cleared some bits, but it's still happening. Could a dodgy fuse for the radiator fan cause these symptoms too?

A fuse issue could mess with the fan and maybe cause overheating, but your symptoms sound more like a direct blockage. Since cleaning the grille didn't fix it, I'd get a workshop to check for radiator blockages or thermostat problems.

Took it to a mechanic, and you were right, the cooling grille was the problem. They replaced a broken part linked to it. Cost me 52€. Runs like a dream now. Cheers!
