Cruise control and turn signals are fine. Steering column wiring, eh? Is that easy to get to and check?

On the Megane, it wasn't too bad, but fiddly. If you're not comfortable poking around the wiring, honestly, best bet is to get a workshop to take a look. Could save you a bigger headache later. They can properly diagnose the cable or plug connection. I ended up paying around 100€ for a similar repair on mine.

Cheers for the advice. Dropped it into a shop, and you were spot on. Bad connection in the steering column wiring harness. 95€ and all sorted.

Sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane, though it was the cruise control acting up at the same time. Have you checked the wiring harness around the steering column? That's where my issue was. Any other electrical weirdness going on, like with the turn signals?
