SC Gear Shift Indicator Failure

Hey, my 2007 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine is acting up. The gear shift indicator in the dash is dead. Also, it is impossible to engage the gears, and the gearbox slips when it shifts, making some grinding noises. There's an error stored, and the gear selection display is blank. Could a defective control unit be the culprit?

I had something similar happen with my SC. Was the implausible shifting behavior of the automatic transmission the same? Did it start suddenly?

Yeah, the shifting behavior was definitely implausible and started out of nowhere. What was the fix, if you don't mind me asking? Did you have to replace the whole transmission?

It does sound alike! I didn't have to replace it thankfully. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they told me the control unit was faulty. I would suggest getting yours checked out too.

Thanks for the advice! Indeed it was the control unit. The error memory pointed towards it. It set me back 1000€, but at least it's fixed.
