Scenic ABS and Lateral Acceleration Sensor

My 2009 Renault Scenic (gasoline) with 54489 km is showing an ABS lamp and a 'Check ABS' message. Error memory points to the lateral acceleration sensor. Could the control unit be defective? Has anyone seen this before?

I had something similar on my Scenic. ABS light, stability control errors... Could be a steering angle sensor issue throwing everything off. Before condemning the control unit, have you checked the sensor connections and wiring? They can get corroded or damaged.

Connections look okay, but I haven't tested them with a multimeter yet. Did your issue specifically mention the lateral acceleration sensor though?

I don't remember the exact error code, but the symptoms were identical. The garage initially suspected the lateral acceleration sensor too, as it plays a big part in the electronic stability control system. They ended up replacing a faulty sensor. I'd recommend a workshop visit.

Thanks. Looks like a trip to the shop is unavoidable. The estimate is around 1000€ for the control unit, if that is actually the cause.
