Scenic Automatic Transmission Problems

Shift lock, huh? I haven't specifically looked at that. Where exactly is the transmission sensor located? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off just throwing in the towel and taking it to a mechanic?

The sensor's usually bolted onto the transmission itself. Given all the symptoms you're describing – the slipping, the no-start, the error code – it really does sound like a control unit problem, especially with that mileage. Unfortunately, testing it properly requires specialized equipment. At this point, I'd recommend getting it diagnosed by a workshop.

Yeah, I think you're right. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but a defective control unit sounds like a nightmare. I took it to a local shop, and they confirmed it: faulty control unit, 1000€ repair bill! Ouch! Thanks for your help, though; at least I know I explored my options.

Sounds rough! Does it feel like the shift lock is engaged even when it shouldn't be? Have you checked the transmission sensor? A faulty sensor can definitely cause those symptoms, including the no-start issue and the error code.
