Scenic Battery Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Renault Scenic diesel is experiencing early battery failure, weak starts, and flickering lights, with voltage fluctuations noted. The issue may be due to a faulty battery sensor misreporting battery health and affecting charging. A similar case was resolved by replacing the battery sensor, which suggests that replacing the sensor could potentially solve the problem.

I've visually inspected the sensor, but I can't tell if it's working right. Can you tell me more about your experience? Did you find a way to confirm the sensor was bad, or did you just replace it based on the symptoms? Any info would be great.

I didn't dive as deep as you did with the multimeter. I just took it to a workshop. They ran diagnostics and confirmed it was a faulty battery sensor. New sensor, problem solved.

Thanks for sharing! I thought so. I'll get a new sensor and hopefully that fixes it. The local shop quoted 315€ for the sensor and installation. That's the price of fixing it I guess! Thanks again; your advice helped me figure out what to do.

I had a similar problem with my Scenic. Weak starts, lights dimming… drove me nuts! Didn't check the voltage, but the symptoms sound the same. Have you looked at the sensor itself?
