Scenic diesel preheating lamp and check engine light

Hi, I have a 2008 Renault Scenic, diesel engine, with 64823 km. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off, the check engine light is on, and there's smoke when accelerating. I suspect the glow control unit. Could be a defective cable or plug connection?

Hey, I have a Scenic too, and I had similar symptoms! Check engine light, engine misfire and smoke. It drove me nuts! Was the engine light on constantly?

Yes, the engine light is always on. Did you ever figure out what the problem was? How did you solve it?

Yep, constant engine light for me too. Turned out to be a defective cable to the heating element. I had it checked at the workshop. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed. Good luck!

Thanks! I found the same issue: glow control unit was defective; cable was broken. Repair cost was 95€. All good now.
