Scenic exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Scenic is experiencing issues with its exhaust flaps, leading to louder exhaust noise and a noisy engine after a cold start. The problem is suspected to be a defective exhaust flap, possibly due to a malfunctioning flap actuator. It is recommended to visit a workshop for diagnosis and repair, as exhaust components can be complex to handle.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the engine performance seems a bit off, especially at lower RPMs. You mentioned exhaust flaps malfunction. Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you have to go to a workshop? What was the repair?

I didn't fix it myself, too complex. I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the flap actuator that was gone. You could try checking the actuator connection, but honestly, I'd suggest a visit to the workshop. The exhaust components can be tricky.

Ok, thanks for the advice! I'll take it to the workshop then. I got a quote for around 190€, so I hope it will be a similar price. Really appreciate the help!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Renault Scenic. Louder exhaust noise was a key symptom. When the exhaust flaps malfunction, it causes changes in how the exhaust gases are routed, and that leads to noticeable noise increases, especially at certain RPMs or during cold starts. Has your engine performance also been affected?
