Scenic Jerking Acceleration

I'm having some serious issues with my 2002 Renault Scenic, gasoline engine. It's only done 46808 km. The engine is running super rough, and the check engine light is on. When I try to accelerate, it jerks like crazy and feels like it has way less power than it should. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm thinking it could be the fuel pump or something.

Rough running, check engine light, and jerking under acceleration on your Scenic sounds like misfires. Have you had the error codes read? Misfires are often caused by a faulty ignition coil, spark plugs, or, quite possibly, a defective fuel injector. Do you know which cylinder is misfiring?

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't read the error codes yet, don't have a reader. Is there a way to figure out which cylinder is misfiring without one? Or is it just best to take it to a shop to get the codes read?

Without reading the codes, pinpointing the exact cylinder misfiring is tough. Given the symptoms, especially the jerking and reduced power, I'd suspect a fuel injector issue. Continuing to drive it could cause damage, so getting the codes read at a workshop is advisable.

Dropped it off at the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out it was an injector. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted, but at least it's running smoothly again. Thanks for the help!
