Scenic MAF sensor issue

I've got a 2001 Renault Scenic diesel with 188152 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed higher fuel consumption and the engine sometimes stalls at idle. The check engine light is also on, and there's some smoke when I accelerate. I suspect a defective LMM (mass air flow meter). Anyone experienced similar issues?

Hey there! I had almost the same symptoms with my old Opel Astra: check engine light, performance decline, engine stalling... It was also the MAF sensor. Was the air intake clean when you checked it? Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

Thanks for the info! When you say 'cleaning the MAF sensor,' what exactly did you do? What kind of cleaner did you use? And did you disconnect the battery before?

I tried cleaning it with a special MAF cleaner spray, but honestly, it only helped for a short time. The issue came back after a few weeks. In my case, it was best to just replace it. I recommend you go to a workshop!

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. The MAF sensor was indeed defective. Repair cost me 365€. Runs like new now!
