Thank you for your response. I have not yet checked the cable connection directly. Could you provide more details on how you identified the issue and what steps you took, or if you have any advice on things to check when I look at the cable connection in the steering column? Any specific sensors?

Sure thing! Honestly, I didn't dive too deep myself. When the steering wheel buttons died and the error light popped up, I hooked it up to a vehicle diagnostics tool. After that I figured that messing with the airbag myself seemed like a bad idea, so I took it straight to a trusted mechanic, and they confirmed it was a faulty connection within the steering wheel. Cost me 95€ to get sorted. Probably best to get it checked by a pro.

I appreciate the information and advice. It confirms my suspicion that it could be a defective cable connection. I will schedule an appointment with a workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair. Thank you!

Hey! I had something similar happen with my Scenic – though mine's a bit older. The steering wheel controls went haywire. Did you check the cable connection in the steering column? That's what messed mine up, are you able to read out the error codes?
