Scenic O2 sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Renault Scenic owner experienced a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with an OBD scanner indicating an oxygen sensor error. Despite checking the wiring and connections, the issue persisted. A workshop visit revealed a corroded connection to the O2 sensor, which was cleaned and the plug replaced, resolving the problem and restoring fuel efficiency.

No, the engine itself seems to be running smoothly, no rough idling or anything like that. Just the increased fuel consumption and the pesky check engine light. Was it expensive to fix? Could it actually just be a defective connection?

Mine drove fine too, just like yours. I'm no mechanic, but given the symptoms and error code, it does sound like it could be a faulty O2 sensor or a connection issue, like you said. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to be sure. It might be a quick fix!

I took it to my local workshop, and it turned out to be a corroded connection to the O2 sensor, just as suspected. They cleaned it up and replaced the plug, and the error is gone. Total cost was 95€, which I'm happy with. Fuel efficiency seems to be back to normal.

I had a similar issue with my Scenic, though I can't remember the exact error code. It was definitely something to do with the exhaust system and the O2 sensor. Is it running rough at all?
