Scenic Overheating Radiator Fan Issue

Thanks for the quick reply. The fan seems completely non-operational, no matter the engine temperature. The coolant level is normal. Could a faulty speed sensor be related? I've seen that mentioned in forums.

A faulty speed sensor could be the problem. The ECU uses sensor inputs, including the speed sensor, to manage engine functions like temperature control. If the ECU gets bad data from the speed sensor, it might not turn on the radiator fan at the right time, causing overheating. Given the age of your Scenic, corrosion or wear in the sensor's wiring or the sensor itself are common. Given your checks, I'd advise professional diagnostics at a workshop to confirm the sensor's issue and replace it. Ignoring this can severely damage the engine.

Understood. Thanks. I took the car to a workshop. The speed sensor was defective, causing the radiator fan to fail. The repair cost 250€. The issue is resolved.

Overheating and a check engine light on a Scenic of that age certainly point to cooling system issues. The radiator fan's operation is very important. Is the fan completely non-operational, or does it sometimes work? Have you checked the coolant level? Low coolant would make any fan issues worse and trigger overheating. Also, check the fuses. A blown fuse would stop power to the fan motor.
