Scenic Power Window Issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2011 Renault Scenic (gasoline engine). I recently replaced the battery, and now the power windows won't operate. The error memory shows a fault related to the window regulator initialization being unsuccessful. It's like they've completely lost their programming. Has anyone experienced this after a battery change? Is there a way to re-initialize the window regulators myself? The car has 71683 km on the clock. Any advice on window switch or general window troubleshooting would be appreciated!

Summary of the thread

After replacing the battery in a 2011 Renault Scenic, the power windows stopped operating, with an error indicating unsuccessful window regulator initialization. This issue likely stems from a programming or initialization problem caused by the battery change. Attempts to manually re-initialize the windows were unsuccessful, leading to the recommendation of visiting a workshop with Renault-specific diagnostic tools. The workshop successfully re-initialized the window regulators, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like the battery replacement scrambled the window regulator settings. Did you try the standard 'hold the switch down, then hold it up' initialization procedure? Sometimes that works. If not, the error code is key. Do you know the specific code number? That might point to a deeper issue with the car electronics or even the window motor itself.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did try the hold-down-then-up trick, but no luck. I don't have the exact error code number handy, but I can try to get it again. If the basic initialization doesn't work, what's the next most likely thing to check? Is it possible the window regulator itself failed coincidentally, or is it almost certainly related to the battery change and some kind of programming issue?

Given that it happened right after the battery change, I'd lean heavily towards a programming or initialization problem. It's possible the regulator failed, but the timing is suspicious. Honestly, without the specific error code and diagnostic tools, you're probably best off taking it to a workshop with Renault-specific diagnostic equipment. They can likely re-initialize the regulators properly. You might be chasing ghosts otherwise.

Okay, thanks for confirming my suspicions. I was hoping to avoid a trip to the shop, but it sounds like it's the most sensible option. I took your advice and had it checked out. Turns out the regulator initialization indeed failed. They re-initialized the window regulators with their diagnostic tool. Cost me 290€, but at least the windows work again! Thanks for your help!
