Physical damage, no. Obstructions, no. The windshield is clean. When you say similar, did you have the exact same suite of issues – wipers, headlights, and dash dimming? What was the root cause in your case?

Not the dimming, but definitely the wipers and headlights misbehaving. I suspected the sensor, but never got to the bottom of it, as the shop found bubbles under the gel pad. I'd suggest a trip to a workshop; they can diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the insight. I took your advice and went to the workshop. Indeed, bubbles had formed under the gel pad on the windshield. The sensor was replaced for 62€, and everything is working as expected now.

Interesting. I had similar symptoms on my older Volvo V70. Did you check the sensor itself for any physical damage or obstructions? Is the windshield clean around the sensor area?
