Scenic Terminal 15 Ignition Interrupted

Hi, I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2001 Renault Scenic, petrol engine. It's got about 201746 km on the clock. The engine just won't start and I've got an error stored saying "Terminal 15 ignition positive interrupted". I've checked the battery terminals, they seem clean and tight. I also had a look at the fuse box but nothing obviously blown there. Any ideas where else I should be looking for a circuit break or power supply issue before I have to take it to a workshop? Could it be a relay switch?

Ugh, electrical gremlins are the worst! Terminal 15 sounds like ignition switch related. Did you try jiggling the key in the ignition while trying to start it? Also, have you considered that it could be a defective cable or plug connection of some sort? That would definitely trigger that error. Is there any corrosion?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did try wiggling the key, no luck unfortunately. When you say defective cable or plug, are there any specific ones I should be focusing on around the ignition switch or fuse box area? I'll have another look for corrosion but didn't spot anything obvious at first glance.

Yeah, focus on the wiring and connectors right around the ignition switch and leading to the fuse box. It's a common spot for issues. Honestly, though, with that specific error, it really points to a professional diagnosis. Could be a deeper issue than just a loose wire. Bite the bullet and take it to a workshop, before you make it worse by poking around.

Okay, thanks for confirming my fears! I appreciate the advice. I'll book it in with a local garage. They reckon it was a defective cable/plug connection, and they sorted it for 95€. Thanks again!
