Scenic transmission issues

I've got a 2015 Renault Scenic with a gasoline engine and I'm having some transmission issues. The engine warning light is on, and I'm getting a gearbox error message. It's also slipping gears and making a grinding noise sometimes. I checked for any obvious leaks but couldn't find anything. Mileage is at 196465 km. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I have a Scenic too. Had similar symptoms last year. Have you checked your transmission oil level? That was the culprit in my case.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly did you find the oil level to be low? Was it leaking, or did it just disappear somehow? I'm not very experienced with transmission issues.

Mine wasn't leaking, it was just low. If it's shifting badly, I'd get it checked professionally. It could be just the low oil, but also a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor. In the end, I needed to replace mine, and it cost around 365€ with parts and labor, but that fixed all my problems, including the emergency mode issue.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop and mention the transmission oil temperature sensor and oil level. Hopefully, it's a quick fix.
