Scudo Gear Shift Indicator Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Fiat Scudo diesel is experiencing issues with the gear shift indicator display, preventing it from shifting into gear properly, and causing slipping and grinding. The speedometer also shows a gear selection error. The problem is suspected to be a faulty control unit, which was confirmed by a diagnostic check at a workshop. Replacing the control unit resolved the issue.

I got an error code but not sure what it means for the Fiat Scudo. What was the cause on your Saab?

It was a faulty control unit. Cost a fortune to fix, but it worked. You might be looking at the same thing. Get it on a proper diagnostic machine at a good workshop. Better safe than sorry.

Took it to the shop, and you were right – dodgy control unit. The bill was about 1000€, but it's sorted. Thanks for the advice!

Sounds like a pain! My old Saab 9-3 had a similar issue. The digital display went haywire, and the auto 'box started playing up. The symptoms sound familiar. Did yours show any error codes?
