Search for solutions to electrical failures and battery problems in the 2018 Seat Ateca petrol car

Hi guys! I currently have a problem with my 2018 Seat Ateca petrol engine. It's totally acting up and showing general electrical failures, stored faults and low battery when starting. In addition, the lights are sometimes bright, sometimes dark. I have a suspicion that it may be due to a break in terminal 30, but I'm not sure. Have any of you already had a similar problem and can give me helpful troubleshooting tips? I am particularly interested in how your workshop solved this and what experiences you have had. Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Seat Leon. As I have limited experience with cars, I had to take the car to a garage. They found that the problem was due to a faulty fuse and therefore the cost was not that high, only 70 euros. It may be the same problem with your car. However, it would be helpful if you could share more details about your car's behavior so we can help you better.

Hey, thanks for your tip! My Ateca now has 40500 km on it, the last service was recently. I haven't changed a fuse, but I'll add your suggestion to my list. What other information would you need?

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I think it would be helpful to know more about the exact symptoms. For example, does the problem occur constantly or only occasionally? And are the electrical failures constant in any way, or is it more sporadic? In my Leon, for example, the lights always flickered when the engine was under high load. Also, has the engine ever made any unusual noises? And last but not least, have you read out error codes from the on-board computer? This could help us to better understand the problem.

Hey, those are some good questions! The outages are pretty sporadic and it's hard to see a pattern. It's the same with the lights, sometimes they flicker, sometimes they don't. I haven't noticed any strange noises coming from the engine. And unfortunately I haven't read out any error codes, which would probably be the next thing I should do. I'll give all this information to my mechanic and see what he says. Thanks for your help!

Hello, That sounds like an annoying problem, which I have also had with a Seat (also a petrol engine). These electrical failures and the weak battery may actually indicate an interruption at terminal 30, as this is responsible for the power supply. In my case, the problem was ultimately due to a faulty earth cable, which led to a poor contact. This led to voltage fluctuations and the symptoms described. Another common problem could also be the alternator, which no longer charges properly. I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps: -Check the battery and its connections for corrosion and tightness. -Check the earth cable (often a thick, black cable) to make sure it is connected correctly and is not damaged. -Test the alternator to make sure it is charging the battery properly. I hope these tips help you and you can solve the problem soon!

It sounds like you might be dealing with an electrical issue rather than all the lights failing simultaneously. Start by checking the fuses related to the lighting system to ensure none are blown. Also, inspect the wiring harness for any visible damage or loose connections, especially around the fuse box and light assemblies. If the issue persists, it might be worth checking the light control module, as a fault there could cause multiple lights to malfunction. Let me know how it goes or if you have further questions!
