Search for solutions: Seat Arona Diesel 2018 with various engine problems

Hi everyone, I have a few worries about my Seat Arona Diesel, built in 2018 and with 32,876 km on the clock. Last visit to the mechanic wasn't so great, and now new symptoms are popping up. Check engine light on, black smoke when accelerating, longer cold start time, DPF regeneration not working and the preheating light won't go out. I suspect a glow plug malfunction. Has anyone here had similar problems and can share their experience with their garage? Really grateful for any input.

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Seat Arona Diesel is experiencing several engine problems, including a check engine light, black smoke during acceleration, longer cold start times, DPF regeneration issues, and a persistent preheating light. The suspected cause is a glow plug malfunction. A similar case with a Seat Leon involved issues with the exhaust manifold and DPF, which, once repaired, resolved the problems. The suggested solution is to address potential glow plug and exhaust system issues to restore proper vehicle function.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I can totally understand you! The last time I had my 2020 Seat Leon in the workshop, the symptoms were pretty similar. Check Engine light, black smoke and a perpetual cold start. Turned out to be a serious exhaust manifold and DPF issue that was also affecting the glow plugs. But once that was fixed, it ran like clockwork again. Hope this helps you in some way. All the best!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! Seems like we had pretty similar issues with our cars. Can you remember the repair costs you had to incur for your exhaust manifold and DPF problem? Has anything else come up since then or is your Seat Leon now running without any further problems? I'd be really interested to know, as I'm hoping that once my problems have been fixed, things will be quiet.

Hey, sure, I can give you some information! The repair costs were a bit of a shock, I had to pay €575 to repair the faulty control unit. But since my visit to the mechanic, who also fixed the glow plug malfunction, my Seat Leon has been running smoothly again. No more problems, the glow plug no longer ticks and the engine feels really good again. I hope your Seat Arona looks the same once the faults have been rectified. Fingers crossed!

Wow, €575 is a lot of money, but the main thing is that the car runs smoothly again. Good to hear that your Seat Leon is now running smoothly. That gives me some hope for my Seat Arona. I really hope that the mechanic can fix my problem successfully and that there are no more surprises waiting for me. Thanks again for your help! Keep your fingers crossed!

Hello, in my Seat Arona 1.6 90hp, year 2018, the engine warning light came on with various error codes P0064(D6) and P003E(71). Let me know, thanks.

Hello, in my Seat Arona 1.6 90hp, year 2018, the engine warning light came on with various error codes P0064(D6) and P003E(71). Let me know, thanks.

The error codes P0064 and P003E typically relate to issues with the turbocharger or its control system. P0064 can indicate a problem with the heater control circuit for the air intake temperature sensor, while P003E often points to a turbocharger or boost control solenoid issue. Start by checking the wiring and connections to these components for any signs of damage or corrosion. If everything looks fine, it might be necessary to test the sensors and solenoids themselves. If you're not comfortable doing this, it's best to have a professional mechanic take a look. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
