Seat Alhambra ABS Fault

My 2015 Seat Alhambra diesel is acting up. The ABS lamp is lit, traction control is failing, and the whole ABS system has stopped working. Diagnostics point to a speed signal fault. I suspect it's the ABS control unit. Has anyone else seen this? The garage quoted me 1000€ if the ECM is to blame.

Speed signal fault sounds tricky. Have you checked the basics like wheel speed sensors? What about the transmission speed sensor? It could also be a wiring issue somewhere. Does the odometer still work?

Wheel speed sensors seemed okay when I did a diagnostic check, but the transmission speed sensor is a good shout, I hadn't considered that. How would I go about testing that? Cheers!

Yeah, testing the transmission speed sensor can be a bit involved, depending on your tools and skills. You might need a multimeter and the wiring diagram for your Alhambra. Honestly, if you're not completely confident, it might be best to get a workshop to take a look. Could save you money eventually.

Sorted it. The control unit was indeed faulty. A new one was installed, coded, and all errors cleared. Cost 1000€. Ouch.
