Seat Alhambra ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor Suspected

I'm at my wit's end! My 2001 Seat Alhambra diesel keeps throwing up an ABS lamp. The whole ABS system is failing, and the error memory points to a lateral acceleration sensor fault. Could a defective control unit really be the reason? I'm dreading a huge bill...

Sounds like a faulty lateral acceleration sensor. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series, electronic stability control light kept popping up. Does your car feel weird in corners? Have you checked the wheel alignment recently?

Weird in corners, yes, definitely. And the ABS is totally shot. Wheel alignment... hmm, not recently. How did you figure out it was the lateral sensor and not something else?

For me, the yaw rate sensor was giving dodgy readings, which affected the steering angle calculations and triggered the electronic stability program. Turns out these sensors are prone to failure. Honestly, the best bet is a workshop with decent diagnostic tools. They can pinpoint it exactly.

Took it to the workshop, and you were right – the lateral acceleration sensor was indeed faulty. Cost me about 1000€ to get it fixed. Thanks a lot for your help!
