Seat Alhambra ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor Suspected
Summary of the thread
The 2001 Seat Alhambra diesel is experiencing an ABS system failure, with the error memory indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault. The problem could be due to a defective control unit or the sensor itself. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by identifying faulty sensor readings affecting stability control. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed at a workshop with proper tools to accurately pinpoint and fix the issue, which was confirmed to be the lateral acceleration sensor.

Weird in corners, yes, definitely. And the ABS is totally shot. Wheel alignment... hmm, not recently. How did you figure out it was the lateral sensor and not something else?

For me, the yaw rate sensor was giving dodgy readings, which affected the steering angle calculations and triggered the electronic stability program. Turns out these sensors are prone to failure. Honestly, the best bet is a workshop with decent diagnostic tools. They can pinpoint it exactly.

Took it to the workshop, and you were right – the lateral acceleration sensor was indeed faulty. Cost me about 1000€ to get it fixed. Thanks a lot for your help!

Sounds like a faulty lateral acceleration sensor. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series, electronic stability control light kept popping up. Does your car feel weird in corners? Have you checked the wheel alignment recently?
