Seat Alhambra Alarm System Problem

I've got a problem with my 2016 Seat Alhambra with a gasoline engine. The car has 73711 km on it. I'm getting an error related to the additional battery alarm system. Basically, the alarm system is not working. An error is stored in the error memory. I suspect the battery is discharged due to ageing, but I'm not sure how to confirm this. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Seat Alhambra owner experienced a non-functional alarm system with an error stored in the memory, suspected to be due to a discharged auxiliary battery. The issue was confirmed to be related to the auxiliary battery, which powers the alarm system. The suggested solution was to have the battery checked and potentially replaced at a workshop. After replacing the auxiliary battery, the alarm system was restored to full functionality, and the error was cleared.

Interesting issue you're having. When you say 'additional battery alarm system', do you mean the auxiliary battery that powers the alarm when the main battery is disconnected or low? If the car hasn't been used for a while, the auxiliary battery might be the problem. But, does the alarm system not work at all, or does it just give you the error message? Have you checked the voltage of the auxiliary battery? A low voltage could definitely trigger a battery signal and store an error in the system.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I mean the auxiliary battery. The car is used regularly, so it's not sitting idle. The alarm system doesn't work at all – no sound when I try to trigger it. I haven't checked the voltage of the auxiliary battery directly. Where is it located and how would I check it without special tools?

Okay, the fact that the alarm isn't working at all points even more to the auxiliary battery being the culprit. While you could try to check the voltage yourself, it can be tricky to access depending on the Alhambra's configuration. Plus, a simple voltage check might not tell the whole story; the battery could still fail under load. Given that the system is completely non-functional and you're getting a battery alarm error, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the battery, test the alarm system, and replace the auxiliary battery if needed.

I took the Alhambra to a workshop. They confirmed it was the auxiliary battery for the alarm system. They replaced it, cleared the error, and everything is working as it should now. The battery alarm is gone. Cost me around 330€.
