Thank you for the quick reply! That sounds very similar. Could you elaborate a little on what exactly I should be looking for when checking the wiring? I am familiar with basic car maintenance, but the door latch and car sensor technology are new to me. Is there a specific tool that is needed for such a check?

You should check the wiring harness that connects to the door latch. The door latch contains the door sensor which signals whether the door is open or closed. A multimeter can be helpful to check for continuity in the wires. However, if you are not comfortable working with electrical components, it may be best to take it to a workshop to avoid causing further damage. They should be able to diagnose the issue quickly and efficiently.

I appreciate you taking the time to help me understand the issue better. It seems you were absolutely right about the root cause. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed a faulty door contact signal due to a defective cable or plug connection. Repair cost was around 95€. Everything is working fine again now.

This sounds like a door sensor issue, which can cause problems with the automatic locks. I had a similar electrical issue with my Opel Insignia a while back. The car sensor was not sending the correct signal when the door was closed, and that affected the entire central locking system. Have you checked the wiring and plug connections for corrosion or damage? Even a small break in the wire can cause these kinds of intermittent faults.
