Seat Alhambra Automatic Temperature Control Problem

My 2004 Seat Alhambra with a gasoline engine is giving me some trouble. The automatic temperature control has stopped working, and the AC refuses to switch on. I scanned for errors, and it shows a faulty interior temperature sensor. The repair shop suspects a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey there! I think I can help you out, as I had a similar issue with my Alhambra. The symptoms you're describing sound very familiar to me. My climate control was acting up, and the air conditioning simply wouldn't kick in. It felt like the car was stuck in a permanent 'meh' temperature zone, not too hot, not too cold, just... blah. I was sweating like crazy! Have you checked the HVAC sensor itself and its wiring? Could be a simple fix like a loose connector. The diagnostics could reveal that the sensor is not providing an accurate temperature reading, messing up the whole climate regulation system. Sort of like having a broken thermometer in your fridge – the fridge wouldn't know how much to cool! Could you share the exact error code that the system is throwing?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the sensor itself yet, to be honest. Where exactly is the HVAC sensor located, and how difficult is it to access? Also, I don't have the exact error code at hand, but I remember it mentioned something about an 'open circuit' or 'short circuit' in the temperature sensor.

Okay, an open or short circuit definitely points towards a wiring or sensor issue, just like the mechanics suggested! The HVAC sensor on the Alhambra is usually located somewhere near the dashboard, often behind a small grille. However, I am no expert, and poking around without the proper tools could make the problem worse, like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. To be safe, if you are not experienced, the best course of action is to visit a workshop to get it sorted! I hope that helps!

Just wanted to let you know, the workshop confirmed it was the interior temperature sensor and the wiring. Sensor replacement and fixing the plug connection cost 95€. Climate regulation is working perfectly again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
