Seat Alhambra Automatic Transmission Problems

I'm losing it. My 2021 Seat Alhambra with a gasoline engine is acting up. The check engine light and transmission indicator light are both on. The auto transmission feels like it's slipping, and the shifts are super clunky. Sometimes I even hear grinding noises when it shifts! I scanned the error codes, and it's pointing towards a defective torque converter lock-up clutch in the automatic gearbox. Could this be the auto transmission converter totally failing? Has anyone else run into this kind of clutch problem?

I understand that you are experiencing issues with your vehicle. I once encountered a similar situation with my Seat Alhambra. The symptoms you described, such as the check engine light, transmission indicator, and unusual shifting, bear a striking resemblance to the problems I faced. It may be prudent to have the torque converter within the automatic gearbox assessed by a qualified technician.

That's pretty close to what I'm experiencing! When you say 'similar situation,' was it also the torque converter lock-up clutch that was the culprit? And did you have any weird grinding noises too? Any more details you can share would be super helpful!

Indeed, in my case, the problem was traced back to a faulty torque converter. I did experience grinding noises too, particularly during gear changes. It would be wise to consult a workshop for a comprehensive assessment of the automatic gearbox and to verify whether the torque converter is indeed the source of the malfunction. They should be able to give you a more definitive diagnosis.

Just to let you know, I took the Alhambra to a shop, and you were right! The torque converter in the auto transmission was indeed broken. They're quoting around 2120€ for the repair. Ouch! But at least I know what's wrong now. Thanks for your help!
