Seat Alhambra Diesel Bypass Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Seat Alhambra diesel was experiencing a bypass valve malfunction error, engine overheating, and power loss. The issue was initially suspected to be a consequential error from another problem. After advice to check the air intake system and perform a proper diagnostic, it was discovered that a faulty sensor on the exhaust system was causing the error. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Air intake you say? Is there anything specific to look for? It's just weird that it flags the bypass valve and then the engine overheats, especially with that kind of power loss. Thanks!

Yeah, the bypass valve error might be misleading. Mine was similar. It turned out to be another sensor issue triggering the bypass valve code. Get it hooked up to a proper diagnostic machine at a workshop. They should be able to pinpoint the real culprit.

Appreciate the advice. Turns out, the bypass valve error was a ghost. A faulty sensor on the exhaust system was the problem. Replaced it and the Alhambra is purring like a kitten again. No cost!

Sounds familiar. Had something similar on my Alhambra with the same engine. Check the air intake system thoroughly. Any recent work done there?
