Seat Alhambra Diesel Engine Problems
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Seat Alhambra diesel engine was experiencing starting issues, stalling, rough running, and poor fuel efficiency, with a check engine light indicating a potential fuel pump problem. A suggestion was made to inspect the electrical connections to the fuel pump, as they can corrode or loosen over time. Upon professional inspection, a defective cable connection to the fuel pump was identified and repaired, resolving the engine issues and clearing the error message.

Interesting! Where exactly should I be looking for these cable connections? And how would I test if they're defective? Any tips?

Yep, the connections to the pump itself. The mechanic mentioned that they can corrode or come loose over time, especially with the lovely weather we sometimes have. As for testing, I’m no expert with automotive diagnosis, but a multimeter could help check for continuity. Honestly, if you're not confident, it might be worth getting a professional to have a look. Could save you a lot of time and potential further problems.

Big thanks! Turns out, you were spot on. Took it to a workshop, and it was indeed a defective cable connection to the fuel pump. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Car performance is back to normal, and the error message is gone. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Alhambra a while back. Same symptoms: engine stalling, check engine light, and all that. Before you go tearing everything apart, have you checked the electrical connections to the fuel pump? I remember spending ages looking for the problem, only to find a loose plug. High fuel consumption was a real pain!
