Seat Alhambra Diesel Engine Running Lean
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Seat Alhambra diesel engine was experiencing issues such as running lean, losing power, and triggering the check engine light. The initial suspicion was a fuel injector problem. Suggestions included checking the mass air flow sensor and oxygen sensor, as faults in these components can also cause a lean running condition. Ultimately, a faulty fuel injector was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Interesting. The mass air flow sensor and oxygen sensor? I wouldn't have thought of that. How did you figure that out on your Scenic? Was it throwing the same check engine light?

The check engine light was on in my Scenic, and after a lot of head-scratching, a mechanic suggested it might be the air flow sensor. Turns out he was right! If it's not that simple for you, then fuel injectors are the next most likely culprit. I'd get it checked out by a professional to be sure. They'll be able to properly diagnose it.

Took it to the shop. A fuel injector was faulty. They replaced it and the Alhambra is running great again! Cost 515€, but worth it to have it fixed. Thanks for the advice, it was spot on!

That sounds like what happened with my old Renault Scenic. Reduced power, engine light on... the whole thing. Before you start, have you checked the mass air flow sensor? A faulty one can really mess with the fuel mixture and cause a lean running condition. Also, give the oxygen sensor a look. If those are working correctly, then you might be right about the fuel injectors.
