Seat Alhambra Diesel Exhaust Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The Seat Alhambra diesel is experiencing a loss of power and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. A local mechanic identified a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, likely due to an exhaust system leak affecting emission control. The suggested solution is to replace the sensor, which resolved similar issues for another owner, restoring engine performance and normalizing fuel consumption.

Temperature fluctuation, you say? Now that you mention it, I did notice some weird readings on the temperature gauge a couple of times before the check engine light came on permanently. What was the fix for yours?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me. The temperature sensor was the culprit. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional to confirm, but it sounds like a classic case. Best to get it sorted quickly, as a faulty exhaust sensor can cause more problems down the line. Good luck!

You were spot on! Took my Alhambra to a trusted workshop, they confirmed it was indeed the exhaust temperature sensor. Sensor replacement cost me 265€, including labor. Check engine light is gone, and the engine is running smoothly again. Fuel consumption seems back to normal too. Thanks a million for your help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Alhambra. Check engine light, loss of power... Was there any noticeable temperature fluctuation before it happened?
