Seat Alhambra electrical errors

My 2005 Seat Alhambra with a gasoline engine is throwing up all sorts of errors. The main issue seems to be an overvoltage condition, with numerous fault memory entries pointing to it. This has resulted in the failure of various systems. I've also noticed the battery is weak when starting, suggesting a possible drain. I suspect a heavily discharged or defective battery might be the culprit, but I'm open to suggestions before I dive deeper.

Sounds like a nightmare electrical issue. I had something similar with my old Renault Megane – car electronics were going haywire. Have you checked the alternator? A failing voltage regulator can cause overvoltage and wreak havoc with the car's circuit protection.

The alternator seemed fine on a quick test, but I didn't specifically focus on the voltage regulator. Was your Renault showing similar fault codes relating to overvoltage, and did it also lead to a weak battery?

Yes, exactly that! The fault codes were all over the place due to the voltage spikes. The battery kept draining, too. Replacing the voltage regulator fixed it, but honestly, it's best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause.

As suspected, the battery was heavily discharged and likely defective, causing the overvoltage readings and subsequent system failures. The voltage regulator also seems to have suffered. I replaced both, and the car is running smoothly again. The total cost was 290€. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.
