Seat Alhambra mirror heating problem

I'm having trouble with my Seat Alhambra, 2001 model, gasoline engine. The mirror heating isn't working at all. I scanned for errors, and there's an error stored related to the mirror heating circuit. From what I've read, it could be a defective cable or plug connection. The error code and symptoms do align. I am wondering if this is something I can fix myself before I consider mirror replacement? I was quoted around 95€ for the repair. It's getting close to winter driving season, and I really need those heaters to work.

Hmm, an Alhambra, that's getting on a bit. Mirror heating not working and an error code? I'd be skeptical of it just being a loose connection. Have you checked the fuse for the mirror heaters? That's the first thing I'd look at before assuming it's wiring. Also, does it happen on both car mirror or just one? Knowing that will help narrow down if it's a general electrical problem or something specific to one heater element.

Thanks, that's helpful. I did check the fuses; they seem fine. And yes, it's happening on both rearview mirror. If it's not the fuse and it's both mirrors, does that still point to a wiring issue, or could it be something else entirely?

Okay, both mirrors are out, and you've checked the fuses – that does make a simple wiring issue less likely, but not impossible. Given the age of the car, it probably is a loose or corroded connector somewhere in the circuit that powers both mirrors. It's still possible to check the wiring, but honestly, chasing electrical gremlins can be a real pain without the right tools and experience. For 95€, I'd say just take it to the workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and fix it, and you'll have a working rearview mirror heater again.

Thanks for the input! I took it to a local garage, and they confirmed it was a loose connector. They cleaned it up and secured it properly. All in, it cost me 95€, just like you predicted. Now I'm ready for winter driving without frozen rearview mirror!
