Seat Alhambra NOx Storage Catalyst Aging Issue

Fuel efficiency is difficult to say, as I am not monitoring that regularly. I did notice a strange smell, yes. So, the exhaust leak was also near the catalytic converter? Any advice on how to spot the leak myself before I take it in?

Yes, the leak was also near the catalytic converter on mine. Honestly, unless you have the right tools and know-how, it's tough to pinpoint the exact location. I'd recommend taking it to a reputable shop for proper diagnostics. They can do a smoke test to find even small leaks. It will be worth the cost, trust me.

Closing the loop, I took it to a certified shop as suggested. You were right, exhaust leak near the NOx storage catalyst. Repair including parts and labor for the emissions system was 265€. Ouch, but at least the check engine light is off and hopefully my fuel efficiency will improve. Thanks for the input!

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Opel Insignia, though it was a diesel. Check engine light, error codes related to emissions, the whole shebang. Did you notice any change in fuel efficiency or a strange smell?
