Seat Alhambra oil temperature warning light issue

Alright, so my 2013 Seat Alhambra with a diesel engine is playing up. The oil temperature warning light keeps popping up on the dash, and there's some error stored in the memory. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up as well. I'm guessing it's the engine sensor, maybe the oil temperature sensor? Could it be a dodgy cable or plug connection? Any ideas?

Sounds like your Alhambra's throwing a fit! If the oil pressure warning lamp is also lighting up, it's usually linked to the engine sensor readings being off. The oil gauge relies on the engine temperature to give you accurate readings. Since you have an error stored in memory, start by checking the cable and plug connection to the engine sensor. It's often the simplest things, like a loose wire, causing havoc. Think of it like a dodgy light switch – sometimes it's just a loose connection, not the bulb itself!

Cheers for the reply! When you say check the cable and plug, is there anything in particular I should be looking for? Any tips on how to do it without buggering things up even more?

Yeah, seeing both oil temperature and pressure warnings together points to that automotive sensor or its wiring. Given the symptoms and error code, a faulty sensor is a strong possibility. Confirming the cable and plug connection of the component defective is indeed the first step. However, proceed with caution. If you are not comfortable using a multimeter, I would advise taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to pinpoint the issue and replace the faulty sensor. That way, you'll avoid potentially causing further problems or misdiagnosing the fault.

Thanks a bunch for the insights! Ended up taking it to the shop, and you nailed it – faulty engine oil temperature sensor. They replaced it, and the warning lights are gone. Cost me 95€, but at least it's fixed!
