Seat Alhambra preheating control unit malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Seat Alhambra owner is experiencing a preheating control unit malfunction, indicated by a persistent preheating lamp, an activated check engine light, and excessive smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause is a cable or plug connection issue within the ignition system. Another owner with a similar issue suggests checking for electrical faults and recommends a workshop visit for a proper diagnosis. The problem was identified as corrosion on the cable to the preheating unit, which required replacement and a diagnostic check.

Can you be more specific regarding your experience? Which component presented the fault?

Right, the preheating unit was indeed the culprit. It's a pain. I'm no expert, but if you are sure about the electrical fault, it's probably best to get it checked out at a workshop. They will know how to deal with the car preheater.

Understood. I found corrosion on the cable to the preheating unit. Replacement and diagnostic check cost 95€. I appreciate the input.

Whoa, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Alhambra. The car preheater acted up, the engine light was on, and it was belching smoke like a dragon when I hit the gas. Is your vehicle heater doing the same? Maybe check the electrical fault codes?
