Seat Alhambra rough running engine
Summary of the thread
The 2008 Seat Alhambra was experiencing rough engine performance, with the check engine light on and jerky acceleration. Initial thoughts suggested potential issues with the crankshaft sensor, fuel injectors, or a possible exhaust system leak. After further discussion, it was advised to check the oxygen sensor and ignition coil, but ultimately, a mechanic identified and repaired a small leak in the exhaust manifold, resolving the problem.

How did you diagnose the oxygen sensor Was it just a visual inspection, or did you use some kind of diagnostic tool And regarding the ignition coil, would that throw a specific error code, or is it more subtle than that

I used an OBD2 scanner to read the error codes, and it pointed towards the oxygen sensor. But the symptoms you describe, especially with the error codes, could also indicate a leak in the exhaust system. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly without proper diagnostics. I'd advise taking it to a workshop to get it checked properly. They'll be able to do a smoke test to find any leaks, and test the sensors and ignition coil properly.

You were spot on A local mechanic found a small leak in the exhaust manifold. They welded it up, replaced the gasket, and the Alhambra is running smoothly again. Cost me 265€ all in. Thanks again for your help

I had a similar issue with my Alhambra. Same symptoms check engine light, jerky acceleration, the whole shebang. Have you checked the oxygen sensor That was the culprit for me, although it could also be a faulty ignition coil. Does the engine run rough even when it's idling
