Seat Alhambra Tailgate Problem

I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2014 Seat Alhambra with a diesel engine is playing up. The automatic tailgate won't open properly, only goes up a little bit. I've plugged it into a diagnostic tool, and it's throwing up a 'Tailgate hall sensor fault'. I'm guessing it's something to do with the electrical sensor, but I'm not sure where to start looking.

I had a similar issue with my Alhambra's automatic tailgate a while back. Is the error message specific about the hall sensor? Have you checked the wiring harness where it enters the tailgate? Those wires can get brittle and break over time from the constant opening and closing.

Cheers for the quick reply! The error message just says 'Tailgate hall sensor fault'. Where exactly should I be looking for this wiring harness? Is it easy enough to get to, or am I going to need to dismantle half the tailgate trim?

Yep, sounds like the same thing I experienced. The harness is usually tucked away near the hinge, so you might need to peel back some of the trim. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with electrics, it might be worth getting a garage to take a look. It could save you a bigger headache down the line. I ended up taking mine in, and they traced it to a broken wire in that harness. At least you have an idea what it could be.

Took her in, and you were spot on! It was indeed a dodgy connection on the electrical sensor for the tailgate. 95€ later, and it's all sorted. Cheers for the help!
