Seat Alhambra transmission issues

I've got a 2018 Seat Alhambra with a diesel engine and about 86442 km on the clock. Recently, the engine warning light came on, and I'm experiencing some transmission issues slipping gears, rough shifting, and even some grinding noises. The error code points to a fault with the transmission oil pressure sensor. Could this be due to the oil level being too low? The gearbox is in emergency mode now. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Seat Alhambra owner experienced transmission issues, including slipping gears, rough shifting, and grinding noises, with an engine warning light indicating a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. The problem was suspected to be due to low transmission oil levels. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the low oil level was the cause, and the transmission sensor was replaced, resolving the issue.

I encountered a similar issue with my Volvo a while back. Illumination of the MIL and erratic shifting pointed to transmission issues. Have you checked the transmission fluid level? A low oil level can often trigger the pressure sensor fault, as the sensor detects insufficient pressure.

I haven't checked the transmission fluid level myself, to be honest. Where exactly is the transmission fluid reservoir located on the Alhambra? And is it something straightforward to check, or does it require special tools or procedures?

On my Volvo, the fluid level check required access to a dipstick located near the transmission. However, depending on your Alhambra's specific transmission model, it may not have a dipstick. It might involve removing a fill plug and checking if the fluid is level with the bottom of the opening. Given the symptoms and error code, and your lack of experience with the procedure, I would recommend taking it to a qualified workshop to avoid potential damage to the transmission. They can properly diagnose the oil level and the pressure switch.

Took the Alhambra to a workshop and they confirmed the low oil level in the gearbox was the culprit. They topped it up, replaced the transmission sensor, and cleared the error codes. Runs like new now. The transmission sensor replacement and labor ended up costing 365€ but worth it to have it sorted. Thanks for the advice.
