Seat Altea AC Issues

Hi, I'm having trouble with the AC in my 2005 Seat Altea with a gasoline engine. Mileage is at 176247 km. The air conditioning no longer cools, and the system doesn't even seem to switch on. I've read it could be a defect in the valves. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any tips for AC diagnostics before I spend a fortune?

I had a similar issue with my Seat Altea, although it's a newer model. The AC just stopped working. Did you notice any strange AC noise before it failed completely? It could be related to the blower motor. Have you checked the temperature control settings? Sometimes it's the simplest things.

No AC noise that I noticed, just stopped working. Where exactly did you have the problem with your Altea? Was it also the valves? And did you check the blower motor yourself, or did a mechanic do it?

Yes, in my case, AC diagnostics pointed to faulty valves within the AC system. I didn't check the blower motor myself; I took it to a workshop. Considering your symptoms, I recommend you do the same. The AC maintenance on these systems can be tricky. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a workshop, and it turned out you were right about the valves. The repair cost was around 1000€. Now the AC is working again, hopefully for a long time!
