Seat Altea audio system failure

My 2011 Seat Altea diesel has decided to wage war on my ears. The audio system is completely dead! No sound, nothing. I scanned it with a diagnostic tool, and it's throwing up an error, which the mechanic suspects points to a defective display. Has anyone else experienced this particular brand of audio annihilation? I'm fearing the worst, especially since I use the Bluetooth functionality constantly. This Bluetooth problem is driving me crazy!

I had a similar issue with my Altea's sound system. Does the problem affect all audio sources? Have you checked the fuses related to the sound system? Could be a simple fix.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it affects everything - radio, CD, even the Bluetooth connection is dead. I get no sound at all. I did check the fuses, and they all seem fine. Any other thoughts? Could faulty wiring be the problem? I'm getting a bit of static noise sometimes, but I'm not sure if it's related. The audio quality was always subpar anyway, even before this problem, and now my sound system is completely mute!

Given the error code and the fact that all audio sources are affected, including Bluetooth, it does seem like the display unit itself is the culprit. The static noise you mentioned could be related, but it's hard to say for sure without further testing. I would advise taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair.

Just wanted to say what happened. I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on - it was the display unit itself. They replaced it, and everything is working perfectly now, although the cost ended up being around 725€. Thanks a million for your help!
