Seat Altea Diesel Cylinder Pressure Issues

My 2006 Seat Altea diesel is driving me up the wall. Getting cylinder pressure fluctuations, which I think is a consequential error. Higher fuel consumption, engine's lost a ton of power, and the check engine light is mocking me constantly. I've read everything from fuel injector problems to a knackered turbocharger, or even the head gasket being blown. Surely someone has seen this before?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar with my Altea. Check your intercooler hoses first! Had a boost leak which threw all sorts of crazy readings and limp mode. Could be a simple fix before you start tearing into turbos or head gaskets. Fuel injector issues can also trigger that engine light.

Boost leak, eh? Where exactly were the leaks happening on yours? Was it obvious? Also, did your fuel consumption go through the roof like mine? I'm talking seriously bad. I'm really hoping it's not the piston rings or camshaft, I shudder at the cost

Yeah, it was the intercooler hoses on mine, a small split underneath, so hard to spot at first. Consumption went crazy too. Honestly get it to a trusted garage with decent diagnostics if you can't find it yourself, they'll smoke test it for leaks. Cheaper than replacing the turbo for sure! I think the final repair was 0€, besides the hours spent to find the root cause.

Dude, you saved me a fortune! I checked the intercooler hoses, and one had a split. Replaced it for peanuts, and the Altea is back to its old self. No more engine light. Seems the ECU was going nuts because of the pressure leak. Thanks a million, really appreciate it!
