Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is the relay switch located, and how difficult is it to check the wiring harness myself? I'm not very experienced with car electrics.

Yes, that sounds very familiar. The relay switch is usually near the battery or in the fuse box under the hood. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with car electrics, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. A wrong move could damage something. They can check the wiring harness properly and diagnose the circuit break without risking further issues. Better safe than sorry.

Good to know. I took your advice and went to the workshop. They found a defective wiring harness and replaced it. The error is gone and the engine is starting again. Cost me 95€. Thank you for your help!

I had a similar problem with my Altea some time ago. It turned out to be a faulty relay switch in the starter solenoid circuit. Have you checked the battery terminal connections and the wiring harness for any signs of corrosion or damage? A circuit break in that area could definitely cause the issue you're describing.
